Contract Cleaning Industry Worker Registration - Long Service Leave - New South Wales

You may require this registration if you work in the contract cleaning industry. This registration ensures that long service entitlements are available to you. As a registered worker, you become entitled to be paid long service leave after you have 10 years of service in the industry, regardless of how many employers you have worked for.

Your employer is required to pay a levy. This levy is pooled into a fund that pays long service leave entitlements.

If you have been employed for more than three months, your employer must apply for registration on your behalf.

Eligibility requirements

You are eligible for this registration if you are employed under a contract of service by an employer to perform cleaning work. This applies to full-time, part-time and casual workers.

You are not eligible for this registration if you are:

  • engaged solely to supervise workers
  • performing only or mainly managerial or clerical duties
  • a partner in the company partnership
  • a director of the company
  • a trustee of the company trust
  • under a contract of service with a Commonwealth, State, Territory or local government authority
  • directly employed on wages of salary by the owner of a premises you clean.
