Driving Instructor Licence - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to act as a driving instructor. A driving instructor is authorised to, for money or reward:

  • teach another person to drive a motor vehicle
  • test or assess a person for the purpose of enabling that person to obtain a driver licence or have their driver licence varied

Please be aware that licence holders must act in accordance with the conditions imposed on the licence. In order to safeguard the professionalism and standards of driving instruction, there is a strict application process that must be followed.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this licence you must:

  • be 21 years of age or over
  • hold a current full (unrestricted) Australian driver licence of the relevant class and have held the licence for three out of the last four years
  • have a current working with children's check
  • be a fit and proper person
  • have a safe driving record (parking offences excluded)
  • be medically fit to drive
  • have successfully completed the relevant driving instructor theory and practical tests and have obtained a Letter of Eligibility from the Agency
