To be eligible, you must:
- submit the application form and legitimate reason form accompanied by all requested documentation
- provide proof of identity (if no other NSW firearms licence or permit is held or has been held)
- complete a business declaration
- pay the required fees.
If you have never held a firearms licence or permit in NSW, or you do not currently hold an equivalent issued firearms licence or permit interstate, you are required to complete a firearms safety training course and provide evidence of this with your application.
In order to possess or use a prohibited weapon in NSW you must have a genuine reason. This could include:
- theatrical armouring
- museum operation
- the control of feral animals.
