Firearms Instructor Permit - New South Wales

Description

You will need this permit if you intend to act as a firearms instructor. The permit authorises you to possess and use firearms, for the purpose of instruction and accreditation of security guards, employees of Government agencies and certain employees of security firms in the safe use of firearms.

This permit also authorises course participants to possess and use firearms while under your direct supervision.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you must possess:

  • an instructor accreditation
  • a 2D Security Trainers Licence
  • a Master Security Licence
  • a Category H Firearms Business Licence.

To conduct instruction as an employee of a licensed security firm you must possess:

  • evidence of successful completion of an approved Instructor training course from an approved provider
  • a Class 2D Security Trainers Licence.

You are required to submit the application form, business declaration form and legitimate reason form along with all the requested documentation and the required fee.
