Food Safety Auditor Approval - New South Wales


You will require this approval if you intend to act as a food safety auditor in NSW. Food safety auditors have the power to:

  • carry out audits of businesses' food safety programs
  • carry out follow-up actions as a result of audits
  • carry out assessments of businesses' compliance with the Food Safety Standards
  • report on the results of your audits to the Authority.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval you must:

  • hold the required technical skills, experience and qualifications
  • pay the required fees
  • complete a one day training course
  • complete a witness audit.

Please note that there are additional requirements that must be met if you intend to audit high risk businesses.
