You will need this accreditation if you intend to operate a heavy vehicle. A heavy vehicle is a vehicle with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) or aggregate trailer mass (ATV) of more than 4.5 tonnes.
There are four types of heavy vehicle accreditation:
- Maintenance management accreditation: exempts your vehicle from the requirement to be inspected before renewal of registration.
- Mass management accreditation: allows access to additional mass concessions.
- Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) accreditation: allows the drivers of the vehicle to operate under BFM hours.
- Advanced Fatigue Management (AFM) accreditation: allows the drivers of the vehicle to operate under AFM hours.
If you intend to operate a heavy vehicle at higher mass limits, your vehicle must meet certain requirements. Please review the attached resource for more information.
Information on BFM and AFM hours are available from the Regulator.
