You will need this licence if you are a not-for-profit organisation and intend to sell alcohol for consumption at functions. A function is an event that is conducted either for public amusement or entertainment, or to raise funds for any charitable purpose. Events can be a dinner, ball, convention, seminar, sporting event, race meeting, exhibition, performance or trade fair.
There are four types of functions covered by this licence:
- single function: you may sell alcohol for consumption at up to six functions annually without the need to obtain a liquor licence
- multiple function: you may sell alcohol for consumption at up to 52 functions a year, with an option to apply for more
- special event: you may sell alcohol for consumption at a special event of an infrequent or temporary nature that has a social or economic benefit to the community
- trade fair: you may sell alcohol at events that showcase and demonstrate products and services, such as wine or food shows.
Please be aware that licence conditions will vary depending on the type of organisation applying.
