Medical Practitioner Accreditation to Issue Dependency Certificates - New South Wales

Description

You will require this accreditation if you are a medical practitioner intending to work with patients suffering from drug or alcohol dependency, and to issue these patients Dependency Certificates.

A Dependency Certificate authorises the admission of a person suffering from severe substance dependence to the Involuntary Drug and Alcohol Treatment (IDAT) Program, allowing their detention for the purposes of treatment. The IDAT Program provides short term care, with an involuntary supervised withdrawal component, to protect the health and safety of people with severe substance dependence, who have experienced or are at risk of serious harm.
