You may need this check if you intend to apply for employment, licensing, volunteering, adoption or probity purposes. Please note that there are different kinds of checks for different occupations and activities. A National Police Check lists an individual's criminal background (if any).
This check may be required for any of the following:
- licence or registration applications (for employment)
- work that involves interaction with the elderly, vulnerable or children
- volunteering and other not for profit activity
- work-related checks due to legislation or regulations
Please be aware that in some cases, if you intend to work with children in New South Wales, a Working with Children Check will be required instead of this check.
Organisations may apply to become Registered Organisations, allowing them to deal directly with the New South Wales Police Criminal Records Section for the purpose of conducting National Police Checks through the NSW Police Force Secure Online Portal.
