You will need to complete a National Vendor Declaration (NVD) if you intend to move stock (cattle, sheep, goats or pigs) into or within NSW. This includes stock to be sold to processors, saleyards or privately.
A NVD may also be used for movements of stock between different properties with different property identification codes (PICs). Stock movements accompanied by an NVD do not require a transported stock statement (TSS).
Producers must obtain NVD documents through Meat and Livestock Australia's Livestock Production Assurance Scheme.
The NVD records various kinds of information to ensure lifetime identification and traceability of livestock. This includes:
- the address and property identification code (PIC) for the place of origin
- whether or not the stock were bred at the place of origin and the address and property identification code for the destination
- information gathered via the NVD is then recorded onto the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).
