You will need this licence if you are the owner or occupier of land used for agricultural purposes, and you use licensed hunters to manage native game birds. Native game birds include specific ducks, please refer to schedule 3 of the Act for a list of each duck that can be included under this licence.
This licence will only be issued for sustainable agricultural management purposes. It allows licensed hunters to control a specified number of native game birds of a specified class found on your land. This licence does not authorise the killing of native game birds for the purpose of sale. Sustainable agricultural management purposes mean those activities that:
- contribute positively to farm, regional and the State's productivity and economy
- adaptively manage and enhance biological and physical resources
- support the State's regional and rural communities.
This licence does not authorise you to possess the carcass, or the skin or any other part of the bird. Please be aware that this licence does not authorise you to shoot ducks on your property. Anyone who hunts ducks in NSW must hold a minimum NSW General (Standard) Game Hunting Licence and have passed the Waterfowl Identification Test.
Once approved, the agency will provide an allocation of ducks that may be harvested on each property.
