Onshore Petroleum Production Lease - New South Wales

Description

You will need this lease if you intend to extract and produce petroleum and/or gas within a designated area. The lease will authorise you to:

  • prospect for petroleum in and on the land specified in the lease
  • conduct petroleum mining operations on the land specified in the lease
  • construct and maintain such works, structures and equipment as are necessary to fulfill the obligations of the lease.

Please be aware that a production lease will only be granted to an application that holds an exploration licence or an assessment lease.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this lease, you must:

  • have an exploration licence or assessment lease for the land intended to be leased
  • provide details of proposed work, including work program, methods and area of exploration, your qualifications and any technical advisers to be employed, estimated costs
  • provide details of available finances to prove sufficient funds to carry out exploration, including the latest annual report or audited accounts. If finance is provided by another company, must provide letter of guarantee for finances
  • publish your application for lease within 21 days of lodgement in a newspaper widely circulated in the State.
