You need to be registered to practise as a podiatrist. Registered podiatrists are involved in the diagnosis and treatment of problems associated with feet, ankles and related areas and, depending on their qualifications and experience, may use the protected titles of podiatrist and chiropodist.
Podiatric surgeons must also register before they can practise. Podiatric surgeons use surgical procedures in the treatment of problems associated with the feet, ankles and related areas.
There are five different types of registration offered to practitioners:
- general
- specialist
- limited
- non-practising
- student.
There is one endorsement for scheduled medicines available for podiatrists with additional qualifications and expertise.
