Private Water Corporation Approval - New South Wales

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to form a private water corporation. Two or more landholders can apply to form a private water corporation in relation to those landholdings.

Private water corporations provide, maintain, or operate private water supply systems, water distribution systems or drainage systems for landholders within their boundaries, or landholders they have agreements with.

In exercising their functions private water corporations can, for example:

  • construct, install, maintain, and manage their works
  • supply water to members
  • drain water from member’s land
  • enter into agreements with non-members to use the corporation’s works to supply water or drain water from non-member’s land.

Private water corporations can apply to amalgamate with other private water corporations.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this approval, you must create a Private Water Corporation Board to direct, control and mange the corporation. The board must have between 3 and 10 members
