Standard Game Hunting Licence - New South Wales

Description

You will need this licence to hunt game (including game birds) and feral animals on public or private land. Game and feral animals includes, but is not limited to:

  • wild deer, such as sambar and fallow
  • game birds
  • feral animals such as pigs, foxes and rabbits
  • ducks under the game bird management program.

There are two classes of licences:

  • General Game Hunting Licence (G-Licence)
  • Restricted Game Hunting Licence (R-Licence).

The G-Licence allows you to hunt game birds on private land, including native species under the Native Game Bird Management Program. You must have the permission of the private landowner or manager in addition to the G-Licence. This licence type does not allow you to hunt on declared public hunting land.

The R-Licence allows you to hunt game and feral animals on public land that has been declared and open to hunting, or on private land with permission of the landholder.

You do not need a licence if you are hunting rabbits, foxes, feral deer, feral goats, feral pigs, hares, feral cats or wild dogs (other than dingo) on private land, you just need permission from the landowner.
