You will require a permit to erect and maintain a gate that is placed on a public road adjacent to your property. Public gates can only be erected where the public road intersects a boundary fence.
The holder of a public gate permit must ensure that:
- a notice that complies with the relevant requirements is visible on the gate
- both the gate and the notice are maintained in good condition.
Please note that it is an offence to construct a bypass or livestock grid at a public gate unless permission has been received from the relevant authority.
