You will require this registration if you intend to engage in a combat sport contest as a combatant. Combat sport means any sport, material art or activity where the primary objective of each contestant is to strike, kick, hit, throw or punch one or more of the other contestants.
For each style of combat sport you can register as either:
The different styles of combat sport are grouped into the following classes:
- boxing (e.g. fist fighting)
- kick boxing (e.g. Thai boxing / Muay Thai)
- mixed martial arts
- martial arts (any other form of martial arts that are not exempt, as specified in the relevant legislation).
Please be aware that you may apply to be an amateur in one registration class and a professional in another registration class. You may not be registered as an amateur and a professional within the same class.
The Authority recommends that you register for all the classes you think you may compete in over the three-year registration period. If you intend to add a new class to your registration after it has been finalised, you will need to re-register and pay the registration fees again.
