You will require this registration if you intend to:
- Occupy a premises that has a water cooling system or warm water system; or
- Have a water cooling system or warm water system installed in a premises that you occupy.
Please note that you must complete this registration within one month of occupying the premises or having the new system installed.
The Public Health Act requires that all water cooling and warm water systems are registered with the local Council due to the potential risks associated with Legionnaires Disease.
A water-cooling system is a cooling tower, its associated equipment and pipe work. Cooling towers are most commonly used in air conditioning systems and refrigerators.
A warm-water system is one designed to heat and deliver water at a temperature of less than 60 degrees Celsius.
