Regulated Water System Registration - Murray River Council - New South Wales

Description

You need this registration to either:

  • occupy a premises that has a water cooling system or warm water system
  • install a water cooling system or warm water system in a premises that you occupy.

Legislation requires that all water cooling and warm water systems are registered with the council due to the potential risks associated with legionnaires disease.

A water cooling system is a cooling tower, its associated equipment and pipe work. Cooling towers are most commonly used in air conditioning systems and refrigerators. A warm water system is one designed to heat and deliver water at a temperature of less than 60 degrees Celsius.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

Samples must be taken from a water cooling system at least once a month by a qualified professional and tested for the presence of legionella and heterotrophic colony count.

Each cooling tower must also display a unique identification number designated by the council.
