Shellfish - Harvest and Hold Approval - New South Wales

Description

You will need this application if you intend to partake in the Harvest and Hold Scheme. The Harvest and Hold Scheme was development to allow shellfish farmers to harvest product in the period between sample collection to allow for an opening and reporting or results. The scheme aims to relieve industry pressure, particularly during periods of volatile weather conditions.

The scheme can expand the window of opportunity to harvest product for approved shellfish farmers. Under the scheme authorised shellfish harvesters in approved estuaries can harvest product and delay shipping until satisfactory sample results have been reported.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible under the scheme you will need to:

  • be a member of a local program that has a satisfactory compliance above 90% each annual review period
  • participate in a workshop held by the NSW Food Authority before commencing the scheme.
