All stablehands that assist trainers of harness racing horses must be registered. A registered stablehand is permitted to do the following activities:
- carry out track work on registered tracks
- drive at any meeting to prepare a horse to race at that meeting (other than during the horse's immediate pre-race preliminary)
- assist with the training, management, care and control of horses
- assist with the pre- and post-race procedures affecting the horse.
