All teachers need to be accredited to work in a NSW school or centre-based early childhood service.
There are two base levels of accreditation - provisional and conditional. If you have completed a relevant undergraduate degree or the majority of an approved course (e.g. a Bachelor of Teaching) you can apply for conditional accreditation. If you have completed an approved course on top of an undergraduate degree you can apply for provisional accreditation.
If you hold a provisional or conditional accreditation and satisfy the relevant requirements you can then apply for accreditation at a proficient teacher level, otherwise known as full accreditation. Higher levels of accreditation are also available if you want to extend yourself professionally and be recognised for stand-out achievements (e.g. Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher Accreditation).
To begin the accreditation process you must submit a Statement of Eligibility, which can be done online.
