Training Permit - New South Wales

Description

You will require this permit if you intend to carry out fumigation work or pest management technician work as a trainee. This permit allows you to carry out fumigation work or pest management technician work as a trainee for two years so long as the work is for the purposes of an approved training course, is carried out under a supervisor and you keep and maintain a record of the work.

Fumigation work is the use of fumigants for the prevention, control or eradication of pests. Pest management technician work is the use of pesticides (other than fumigants) for the prevention, control or eradication of pests. Please be aware that if you intend to carry out both fumigation and pest management technician work, you will require two licences. You cannot apply for a combined licence.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

A person who carries out fumigation work or pest management technician work as a trainee must keep and maintain a record of the following in relation to the carrying out of that work:

  • the name and address of the trainee
  • the name and address of each employer of the trainee
  • the name of each supervisor
  • a description of the work as it is actually carried out
  • a record of the dates on which the work is carried out.

A person is entitled to obtain a training permit if the person applies to the Environmental Protection Authority for the permit and the application:

  • is in the approved form
  • is accompanied by material or information to support the application (such as qualifications and proof of age and identity)
  • is accompanied by the applicable fee.
