Visitor Permit to Carry out Security Work for Special Events - New South Wales

Description

You will need this permit if you operate a licensed security business in another state or territory and intend to provide security guards at an event declared to be a Special Event of regional, state or national significance in NSW. All declared special events are published on the agency website.

Please be aware that Visitor Permits are only issued to persons who are not residents of NSW and hold a security operative licence in another state.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this permit, you must:

  • be a resident of a state or territory other than NSW
  • hold the relevant security licences authorising you to undertake the types of activities involved in your application
  • be employed by the holder of a Master Licence or a corporation that holds a visitor permit for the specified.

If you are a corporation you must also provide evidence that your principal place of business is in a state or territory other than NSW and a letter from the event organiser or Council confirming that a formal agreement has or will be entered into with your corporation to provide security guards at the event.

Duration

Permits are issued for the duration of the event only.

Expiry

Permits are only valid for the duration of the event.
