Approval to Operate as a Container Deposit Scheme Coordinator - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this approval if you intend to operate as a Container Deposit Scheme Coordinator.

A CDS coordinator coordinates the activities of CDS participants, such as registered CDS suppliers and CDS collection depots. CDS coordinators accept approved containers from collection depots before delivering them for reuse, recycling or other appropriate disposal.

Under the CDS, a 10 cent refund is available to consumers for approved empty beverage containers purchased in the Northern Territory on or after 3 January 2012. Empty approved containers must be delivered to an approved collection depot to obtain a refund. The collection depot must deliver the containers to a CDS coordinator to claim the reimbursement of the refund amount.
