Aquaculture Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to breed or farm fish or aquatic life in large scale commercial facilities with a total water volume of more than 10,000 litres.

Any new licence application must be preceded by a business proposal detailing species to be farmed, area of operation and infrastructure development undertaken or proposed.

To be eligible for this licence, you will need to:

  • identify the site you intend to use
  • obtain other relevant approvals such as a water extraction licence, development consent and land clearing permit
  • prepare a notice of intent
  • provide details of the species of fish you will keep
  • provide details of the gear that you intend to use
  • provide plans relating to the construction of the aquaculture facility
  • provide a proposed plan of operation.
