Building Certifier (Residential) Registration - Northern Territory

Description

You need this registration if you intend to certify class 1 buildings such as houses, units and residential structures and class 10 buildings such as garages carports, sheds, fences and retaining walls. Certifiers currently registered in other states may apply for registration under mutual recognition.

This registration will allow you to:

  • assess building applications
  • issue building permits
  • make recommendations to the director about applications for certificates of existence
  • issue occupancy certificates.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • have three years practical experience in building surveying of Class 1 and Class 10 buildings
  • hold a degree, diploma or qualification required for accreditation as a building surveyor
  • submit a current resume, detailing your experience
  • have at least three written references from registered building practitioners who can verify your experience
  • be a fit and proper person
  • hold professional indemnity insurance of $500,000.
