A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for this registration as an individual you must:

• be registered as a certifying engineer or;
  • have completed the qualifications required for membership of Engineers Australia and be eligible to use the post nominals "MIEAust" and
  • have at least 5 years post-graduate practical experience (including 1 year in the design of mechanical services in buildings, and 1 year in the supervision of the construction of mechanical services in buildings).
• submit a resume and project list detailing your experience (not applicable for applicants listed on the National Engineering Register)
• provide at least 3 written references from registered building practitioners to verify your experience
• be fit and proper person to hold this registration
• hold professional indemnity insurance of at least $1,000,000.

To be eligible for this registration as a company you must provide:

• an ASIC full company extract (no more than 28 days old)
• a copy of either your Certification of Incorporation or Registration of Business Name
• details of at least one director or nominee that is a qualified to supervise and carry out work on behalf of the corporation.

Ongoing eligibility requirements

You must comply with continuous professional development requirements.
