You will need a coastal net fishery licence if you intend to net fish commercially in coastal waters of the Northern Territory.
There are five coastal net fishery licences, all of which are currently allocated. Licences cannot be bought, sold or leased. The fishery is divided into regions:
- Darwin - from Cape Hotham to Native Point and Cape Ford to Cape Dooley.
- Gove - between Cape Arnhem and Cape Wilberforce.
- Borroloola - from Bing Bong Creek and Pelican Spit.
You must only fish within the regions nominated on the licence and not within reef fish protection areas.
