Commercial Agent Licence (Category of Commercial and Private Agents Licence) - Northern Territory

Description

This licence permits the holder to:

  • ascertain the location of and repossess property subject to a hire purchase agreement;
  • collect and request payment of debts;
  • execute any legal process; and
  • obtain evidence for any legal proceeding.

Where the applicant is a company, the manager must be licensed as a commercial and private agent and they must have an office or an agent physically located in the Northern Territory.

Eligibility requirements

A licensee must hold a bond of $2,000 if a company, $1,500 if a business or $1,000 if an individual. If the bond is not current, the agent is deemed unlicensed.

Applicants must submit two references and complete the documents before lodging their application. An original birth certificate or an extract of the birth certificate [or a certified copy] must be filed with the documents and they must advertise their intention to apply for this category of licence in a NT Regional Newspaper [see guide to advertising].

5 years - 166 Revenue Units
In 2017/2018 - 1 Revenue Unit is equivalent to $1.15
