You will need to licence your vehicle if you intend to use it to transport dangerous goods or explosives by road.
A licence is not required for prime movers or converter dollies, or when the dangerous good being transported:
- are diesel only; or
- are in an intermediate bulk carrier (a rigid or flexible portable package for transporting dangerous goods designed for mechanical handling); and
- the intermediate bulk carrier is not packed or unpacked on the vehicle; and
- the total capacity of intermediate bulk carriers containing dangerous goods on the vehicle is not more than 3,000 litres.
