You will need this licence if you intend to operate a domestic or export abattoir which produces meat for human consumption. All meat produced under this licence can only be sold if it is slaughtered, processed, packed and labelled at the licensed establishment and in accordance with the relevant standards.
You can apply for this licence as an individual or a company. If you are applying as a company or do not intend to carry out day to day management of operations yourself, you must nominate a manager.
Please note that if the abattoir is not approved by a quality assurance program, you must not sell or dispatch a carcass or meat for human consumption unless it has been inspected by an inspector.
