Electrical Contractor Licence - NT - Australian Business Licence and Information Service

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to conduct a business or undertaking that does one or more of the following:

performs electrical work
advertises, notifies or states that the person, business or undertaking performs electrical work
contracts for the performance of electrical work, other than under a contract of employment
represents to the public that you or, business/undertaking is willing to perform electrical work
employs a worker to perform electrical work for anyone other than the person.

An electrical contractor licence does not authorise a person to perform electrical work without an electrical work licence.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

To be eligible for this licence:

you, or at least one owner, partner or employee of your business or undertaking has held an electrical work licence a minimum of two years
you can demonstrate that the electrical work will be performed by someone that holds a electrical work licence or by someone who is supervised by a person who holds and electrical work licence
the person who holds the electrical work licence has completed all approved units of competency
you must hold at least $5,000,000 of public and products liability insurance.
