Electricity Retail Supply Code - Northern Territory

Description

You will need to comply with this code if you are an electricity retailer, generator, network provider, or system controller. The aim of the code is to strike an appropriate balance between promoting a level playing field and facilitating full retail competition, while protecting the integrity of the market and discouraging inappropriate market signals among industry participants and stakeholders.

The code sets out the rules for:

  • transferring customers between retailers
  • the arrangements relating to credit support requirements and billing between network providers, generators and retailers
  • metrology between retailers and network providers
  • retailer of last resort arrangements
  • a dispute resolution process
  • protecting electricity customers that require life support equipment
  • hardship and family violence policies.
