Firearm Instructors Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to possess and use firearms for the purpose of conducting approved firearms training and safety courses. Licence holders must:

  • comply with the relevant safe keeping and storage requirements under the Firearms Act 1997
  • not permit any unauthorised person to possess or use a firearm in the holder's possession
  • permit a police officer to inspect, at any reasonable time, the holder's facilities for the storage and safe keeping of firearms
  • not possess an amount of ammunition that exceeds the amount authorised in writing by the Commissioner.

To be eligible to apply for a licence, you must:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • prove your identity in accordance with requirements under the Financial Transactions Report Act (1988)
  • meet the safe storage requirements under the Firearms Act and Regulations
  • have a genuine reason for holding a licence
  • have undertaken an approved Firearm Safety and Training Course.
