Description

You will need this licence if you are an employee who is required to use a firearm by your employer. Employees may only use firearms as part of their work duties and not for another purpose under this licence.

Employees are not permitted to purchase their own firearms and all firearms used under the licence must belong to the holder of a Corporate Licence. Some occupations, such as security guards or bank guards, will need to complete an approved firearms safety and training course.

Licence holders must:

  • comply with the relevant safe keeping and storage requirements under the Firearms Act 1997
  • not permit any unauthorised person to possess or use a firearm in the holder's possession
  • permit a police officer to inspect, at any reasonable time, the holder's facilities for the storage and safe keeping of firearms
