Firearms Museum Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to permanently possess and display firearms in a Museum or Art Gallery.

Licence holders must:

  • comply with the relevant safe keeping and storage requirements as specified by the legislation
  • not permit any unauthorised person to possess or use a firearm in the holder's possession
  • permit a police officer to inspect, at any reasonable time, the holder's facilities for the storage and safe keeping of firearms
  • not possess an amount of ammunition that exceeds the amount authorised by the Commissioner.

 An application for this licence must include:

  • name and location of proposed museum
  • full names, addresses and titles of executive members
  • a copy of the Constitution or Memorandum of Association or Charter the museum is formed under
  • the full name and address (including postal address) of the person nominated as being responsible for storage and display of the firearm exhibits
  • opening hours of the museum
  • type of firearms to be collected and displayed
  • security provisions for how the firearms are to be stored and displayed
