Horse Registration - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this registration if you own a horse and intend to enter it into a race or trial in the Northern Territory. Registration refers to the official naming of a horse for racing or breeding. Horses that are unnamed must be registered before they can be entered into official trials or races.

Please be aware that:

  • Any horse registered in a country other than Australia may be endorsed to race in Australia for twelve months.
  • You must comply with the specified rules and your registration may be subject to conditions.

Eligibility requirements

Your application to register a horse must contain or be accompanied by the following particulars:

In respect of the horse's ownership:

  • name and signature of each owner, date of birth and usual address
  • if the horse is owned by a Company, the name of the Company and its registered address
  • in the case of a horse owned by a syndicate, the name of the syndicate and the names of the trustees or registered manager thereof and the usual address of each of them.

In respect of a horse, its:

  • age
  • sex
  • colour
  • pedigree
  • brands and markings
  • microchip number if applicable
  • veterinary Identification Certificate or Foal Identification Card.
