International Visitors Permit - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this permit if you are an international visitor, and you intend to bring a Category A, B or H firearm into the Northern Territory for safari hunting or competition shooting.

Licence holders must:

  • comply with the relevant safe keeping and storage requirements under the Firearms Act 1997
  • not permit any unauthorised person to possess or use a firearm in the holder's possession
  • permit a police officer to inspect, at any reasonable time, the holder's facilities for the storage and safe keeping of firearms
  • not possess an amount of ammunition that exceeds the amount authorised in writing by the Commissioner.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible you must:

  • provide a colour passport photograph
  • provide a photocopy of your current Firearms Licence 
  • provide a photocopy of your current registration certificate for the firearms for which the permit is required
  • provide a full detailed list of all firearms (make, model, serial number, type) and ammunition
  • provide copy of your passport.

if you do not have a firearm licence you will need to include a criminal history police check.
