Managing Risks of Plant in the Workplace Code of Practice - Northern Territory

Description

You must comply with this code if you intend to conduct a business involving the operation of plant. Plant includes machinery, equipment, appliances, containers, implements and tools and any components or anything fitted or connected to those things.

You may achieve compliance with your legislative requirements through another method if it provides an equivalent or higher standard of work health and safety.

This code provides practical guidance on how to manage health and safety risks associated with plant in the workplace. Duties in relation to managing risks of plant in the workplace include:

  • managing the health and safety risks associated with the plant
  • preventing unauthorised alterations to or interference with the plant
  • only using the plant for the purpose for which it was designed, unless the proposed use does not increase the risk to health and safety.
