Good welfare of animals in sale-yards ensures that the animals cope well within their environment and minimise stress for that animal.
The code prescribes standards to ensure that appropriate measures are taken in regards to:
- the unloading of animals
- pre- and post-sale handling
- animals in sale-yards access to appropriate food, water and shelter.
