Model Code of Practice for the Welfare of Animals - Animals at Saleyards - Northern Territory

Description

You will need to comply with this code if you intend to be responsible for the welfare of animals at sale-yards.

Good welfare of animals in sale-yards ensures that the animals cope well within their environment and minimise stress for that animal.

The code prescribes standards to ensure that appropriate measures are taken in regards to:

  • the unloading of animals
  • pre- and post-sale handling
  • animals in sale-yards access to appropriate food, water and shelter.
