Motor Vehicle Dealer Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to operate a motor vehicle dealership.

This licence is required for all dealings in motor vehicles including new and secondhand vehicles including:

  • motorcycles
  • all terrain vehicles and quad bikes
  • motorised scooters
  • any vehicle over 200 watts (excluding Segways).

You can apply as an individual, partnership or corporation.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • be 18 or older
  • have a current Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) business name extract, showing the proprietor of the business name
  • have proof of ownership of the nominated business address, or if you are renting, a copy of lease of premises and a letter of consent/ approval from the owner to run a motor vehicle dealership
  • have proof that the premises is zoned for a motor vehicle dealer business
  • have sufficient financial resources
  • have a police criminal history check.
