Pet Meat Processing Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to process pet meat. Pet meat is fresh, chilled or frozen body, carcass or flesh derived from an animal that is intended to be fed to pets.

Pet meat can only be sold if it is processed, packed and labelled at the licensed establishment and in accordance with the Act and the relevant standard. You must not sell pet meat for human consumption.

You can apply for this licence as an individual or a company. If you are applying as a company or do not intend to carry out day to day management of operations yourself, you must nominate a manager.

To be eligible,

  • you must be a fit and proper person
  • have no relevant convictions.

You may be required to publish a notice in a newspaper circulating in the area. A notice will be required in relation to all proposed establishments and some existing establishments.
