Petroleum Production Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to explore, test for and produce hydrocarbons from within a licence area. Hydrocarbons are naturally occurring compounds which form the basis of oil and gas from which petroleum is made.

A production licence gives you the exclusive right to carry out petroleum recovery operations within the licence area, according to an approved field management plan and individual activity work approvals.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible this licence you must make a commercially viable petroleum discovery under your exploration permit.

When you discover petroleum in your coastal waters permit area, you may nominate the blocks which contain the petroleum to be declared as a location. You must declare a location before you can apply for a production licence over the area.
