Pipeline Licence - Northern Territory

Description

You will need this licence if you intend to construct and operate a pipeline on land within the Northern Territory, or within three nautical miles of its coastal waters. This licence gives you a right over the area in which you intend to construct the pipeline. You will also need separate consents and management plans if you are to construct and operate a pipeline.

Before you apply for this licence, you must identify the proposed pipeline route and access points along it, including sites for equipment and other works.

You will also need to negotiate any land access you might need with the landowner prior to submitting your application. If you can’t come to an access agreement with the landowner or leaseholder, you can apply for a land access permit, which will allow you to enter land for pipeline route investigations.

Please contact the agency at the start of your energy pipeline project for information about how to apply and other requirements.
