Professional Ground Spraying Applicator's Licence - Northern Territory


Persons intending to undertake professional ground spraying activities must have a Professional Ground Spraying Applicator's Licence.

A professional ground spraying applicator means an employee of a licensed ground spraying business even if they are self employed.

A licence defines the need to obtain recognition / certification and registration to undertake a certain business activity.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must have evidence of current:

  • AusChem Level 3, ChemCert Level 3 or SMARTtrain Level 3 plus the following competencies depending on the category of licence.

Licence Category plus Competencies:
General Horticultural Licence (Herbicides, Fungicides & Insecticides)

  • Competency AHCPMG 201A (formerly: RTC2401A) Treat Weeds
  • Competency AHCPMG 202A (formerly: RTC2404A) Treat Plants Pests, Diseases & Disorders

Horticultural Licence (Herbicides only)

  • AHCPMG 201A (formerly: RTC2401A) Treat Weeds

General Horticultural Licence (Fungicide & Insecticides only)

  • AHCPMG 202A (formerly: RTC2404A) Treat Plants Pests, Diseases & Disorders


Maximum of 3 years, to 30 June of the relevant year (only valid while AusChem 3 /Chemcert 3 /SMARTtrain 3 accreditation is current).
