You are required to have a Property Identification Code (PIC) if you keep any of the following livestock on your land:
- beehives
- bison
- buffalo and cattle
- camels
- deer
- emu and ostriches
- goats
- horses, mules and donkeys
- pigs
- poultry and pigeons
- sheep.
Your PIC is a unique eight character code that identifies the property and is used in relation to the National Livestock Identification Scheme (NLIS) to monitor the movement and health of livestock to prevent the spread of disease. The code is permanently attached to the parcel of land and stays with the property, not with the owner.
