Public Aquarium Licence - Northern Territory


You will need to apply for a public aquarium licence if you intend to purchase and keep live fish and aquatic life for the purpose of exhibiting them for profit. Licence holders are not authorised to sell live fish or aquatic life taken or exhibited under the licence.

You will need to provide the following information to be eligible:

  • details of species to be collected / displayed
  • area(s) from which species are to be collected
  • approved plans for facility
  • business and marketing plans
  • experience of applicant and key personnel
  • quarantine and disease strategies
  • security of ponds / tanks
  • minimum volume of water that will be under display
  • long term financial ability to fund project
  • any convictions for Fisheries offences.
