You will need this registration to operate a commercial visitor accommodation business in the Northern Territory. A visitor accommodation business is one that provides accommodation for seven or more visitors for payment or reward.
Types of visitor accommodation that require registration include:
- hotels
- motels
- serviced apartments
- roadside houses
- wayside inns
- lodges
- hostels
- backpacker accommodation
- cabins.
Small bed and breakfasts, staff accommodation, and student accommodation are not considered commercial visitor accommodation and do not need to apply for registration. Visitor accommodation businesses that are subject to a tenancy or caravan park site agreement also do not need to apply for registration.
