You will need this authorisation if you intend to undertake scientific or medical research on schedule 4 or schedule 8 substances.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible you must satisfy the Chief Health Commissioner that the research:

  • has merit and is justified
  • is to be conducted using facilities and resources appropriate for research
  • cannot be carried out without the use of the substance
  • will be conducted at a place where there is adequate security to prevent unlawful use or removal of the substance from the place.
